What is Vida Health?

Vida Health (Vida) is an online health program. Vida can help you lose weight and prevent or manage chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension or other weight-related health problems.

When you sign up with Vida, you’ll share your health goals and pick a health coach or dietician to support you along the way. Your program will include helpful resources like videos, lessons, recipes, and more. For easy progress tracking, you can connect fitness trackers or health devices. (See most common list in “3rd-Party Devices and Apps” below).

Who has access to Vida through Stanley Black & Decker?

All Stanley Black & Decker employees and their covered spouses, domestic partners and dependent children aged 18+ enrolled in a Cigna medical option are eligible for Vida health coaching at no charge.

What kind of health coaching can I receive through Vida?

Our coaches can help you reach your health goals. Here are a few examples of things we can help with:

  • Losing weight
  • Eating more healthfully, including support for special diets (i.e. gluten-free, paleo, vegan)
  • Exercising more and getting stronger
  • Lowering stress
  • Improving sleep
  • Managing blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol
  • Managing chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipdemia

Can I participate if I do not have a chronic condition?

Yes. We have expert coaches available to help with many health goals. Weight loss is a major focus of Vida. Other related health goals we support include exercising more, eating more healthfully, and handling stress.

What is Vida’s weight loss program like?

Vida’s weight loss program focuses on behavior change​​. You will have your own health coach working with you to make eating and exercise plans that are a good fit for you and your goals. In addition to weekly coaching sessions, if you utilize the Vida Health app, you can message your coach and join a support group with other people also trying to lose weight. The support groups are peer groups that are monitored by a coach. You can also connect devices such as a smart scale to help you track your progress​. Members in this program lose an average of 5% or more of their body weight in 12 months.

How do I sign up for Vida?

Visit vida.com/SBD to sign up and create an account and then complete your onboarding by answering some questions about yourself and your health.  You can also call our customer support for assistance, by calling 833-732-2242.  Vida ofrece todos sus contenidos de programa en español. How do I choose my coach?

After you have signed up for Vida and logged into the Vida Health app (or called by phone), we’ll ask you a few questions, including what kind of coaching style you like. What motivates you? A cheerleader, listener, drill sergeant, or something else? We’ll recommend some coaches that could be a good fit and then the choice is up to you. You may also decide on your coach based on when their first availability is.

Can I change coaches if it doesn’t work out with my first coach?

Yes. To request a change, go to the Home screen in your Vida health app, tap the gear icon in the upper right, then tap Request New Coach. You’ll answer a few questions so we can match you with a new coach that’s the best fit for your style and goals.

I have my own glucometer. Do I need to request a new one from Vida?

If you have your own glucometer, you can likely sync it with the Vida app if it has Bluetooth connectivity.  If you are not able to sync your device, you can also manually enter your data into the Vida app if you prefer to continue using that device.  If you were previously a member of the Livongo program your Livongo glucometer will not sync to the Vida app.  You can keep the monitor and manually enter your data into the app or you can talk to your Vida coach to see if you are eligible to order a new one.

The telemedicine services made available through Vida Health are provided by licensed healthcare providers practicing within a group of independently owned professional practices collectively known as “Vida Medical”. These professional practices provide services via the Vida Health telehealth platform.
