What is Vida’s Medical Weight Loss Program?

Vida’s Medical Weight Loss Program offers a personalized, doctor-supervised weight-loss program and live, one-on-one support from health experts.  Vida’s Medical Weight Loss Program focuses first on lifestyle changes, including medical nutrition therapy, and also supports weight-loss GLP-1 medication prescribing when appropriate. How do I get started with Vida?

Go to vida.com/amrize  or download the Vida Health mobile app from your phone’s app store and create an account.

After you have created an account, answer a few questions about yourself and your weight-loss goals and you will be placed into the Vida program. Once you are matched to the appropriate Vida program, choose a care team member to work with towards your weight-loss goals. This person may be a health coach or dietitian, depending on your health needs.

Next, schedule an appointment from a list of available appointment times. * Reach out to support@vida.com if you have any trouble finding an appointment that works for you.

*If you currently have a prescription for a weight-loss GLP-1 medication, you may be asked to share additional information with Vida before scheduling an appointment with a Vida medical provider. We’ll let you know what these steps are in your status list.

Who will I work with at Vida?

Most newly enrolled members will meet first with a Vida dietitian to discuss health goals and develop a plan to get started.

How do I meet with a Vida medical provider in the Medical Weight Loss Program?

These steps must be completed before meeting with a Vida medical provider:

  • Initial Enrollment
    • Enroll in Vida Health through vida.com/Amrize or download the Vida Health mobile app.
    • In the Vida Health mobile app, fill out the onboarding questionnaire and select your main health goal.
    • Schedule with your dietitian or join your support group.
  • Weight-loss GLP-1 medication history and documentation
    • If you have previously been prescribed a weight-loss GLP-1 medication, you will be asked to upload documentation to Vida, which can include labs and medical records. Your status list in the Vida Health mobile app will tell you which documents are necessary and how to upload them.
    • Members who are not on weight-loss GLP-1medications prior to enrollment in Vida will initially work on Medical Nutrition Therapy with a Vida dietitian over the course of a few months.
    • Lab results* from the last 12 months will likely be requested, including TSH, CMP, A1c, and Lipid Panel. If your most recent lab work is more than 12 months old or is missing any of the required results, let your Vida medical provider know by sending a private “My Care Teams” chat message. The Vida medical provider will send you a lab requisition order that you can print and take with you to an in-network lab** of your choice.
  • Meet with Your Vida Medical Provider
    • If you have been asked to upload documents, once you have done so and we have checked we have what we need, you will be able to schedule with a Vida provider.
    • During this visit, if you are currently on weight loss medication, you are required to show proof of your most recent prescription.

*Lab results and prescriber notes can be securely submitted to your Vida medical provider via the Vida Health mobile app.  Within the Vida Health mobile app go to Settings >>My Documents. Tap “Add Documents.” Follow the instructions to upload a PDF or screenshots.

**Contact BCBSIL at 844-560-9660 for assistance finding an in-network lab.

How do I schedule my next appointment with the Vida care team?

When you log into the Vida Health mobile app, you may schedule an appointment directly through the Vida Home screen.

Am I able to change my Vida medical provider?

To request a change in your Vida medical provider, go to the Home screen in your Vida Health mobile app, tap the gear icon in the upper right, then tap Request New Coach. You’ll complete a brief survey so we can match you with a new coach that’s a good fit for your style and goals.

Why is Amrize using Vida Health as the sole prescriber for weight-loss medications?

Weight-loss medications are powerful tools for those seeking to achieve significant weight loss. These medications are complex, and are most effective for long-term success when paired with lifestyle changes. Amrize is partnering with Vida to offer support for these changes through health coaching, an easy to use mobile app, and access to medical providers who can help prescribe and manage side effects, so that the medicine works the best it can for those who need it.

I am already working with a primary care provider, and I’m concerned about moving to a new medical provider. How does my Vida provider work with my current doctor?

Your medical weight-loss treatment with a Vida medical provider is in addition to the care you already receive from your current doctor or primary care provider (“PCP”).

Your Vida provider focuses on obesity treatment. Your PCP is responsible for all other aspects of your healthcare. This includes services such as in-office visits, preventive mammograms and prostate exams, vaccinations, follow-ups after emergency care and planned surgeries, and care for conditions other than obesity/weight management.

Vida medical providers work with patients on obesity treatment.  Your Vida medical provider is a licensed doctor or nurse practitioner who can write lab orders used in obesity treatment, review the results, and prescribe weight-loss medications to directly treat obesity. Vida’s medical providers will prescribe appropriate medicines based on your pharmacy benefit plan’s formulary.

If you are being evaluated for or are preparing for bariatric surgery, Vida will work with your surgical team to ensure that needed weight-loss medications are prescribed.

We encourage you to share your primary care provider name, clinic, phone and fax number with your Vida medical provider. With your consent, Vida will send an after-visit summary by secure fax to your PCP so that your records are up to date. The after-visit summary may include lab results or other clinical findings of concern and medicines that your Vida provider starts, adjusts, or discontinues.
