5-Minute Deep-Breathing Reset


Just breathe. Long, smooth, rhythmic inhalations and exhalations will activate your parasympathetic nervous system, bringing your whole being back into balance.

  • Find a comfortable seat, or lie down on your back.
  • Place one hand on your abdomen, just below your belly button, and place your other hand on your heart.
  • Feel your breath beginning in your belly and rising into your chest.
  • Feel the fullness of each breath, expanding in all directions.
  • On your inhalation, breathe in all of your worries, concerns, frustrations and sorrows, expanding your internal space to hold all of it with loving kindness and compassionate observation.
  • On your exhalation, let it all go. Breathe out peace and calm into the world and into your life.
  • Repeat 10 cycles of breath this way.
  • Feel yourself opening up, allowing creative solutions to appear and inviting them in. Be receptive.
  • Now, turn those solutions into creative, constructive actions.
