What is Vida Health?

Vida Health is a digital platform that offers personalized health programs and live, one-on-one support from an expert health coach — all through an easy-to-use mobile app and website.

When a member signs up with Rx Activate, they will share their health goals and preferences. Vida will use that information to tailor a program to a member’s needs and the member will pick a coach to support them along the way. The program will include helpful resources like videos, lessons, recipes, and more, plus easy progress-tracking. Members will also be able to connect any fitness trackers or health devices they use.

Who is eligible for Vida through National Dentex Corporation?

Vida is available at no additional cost to U.S. associates who are eligible for a National Dentex-sponsored medical plan and their family members (age 18+) who are enrolled in a National Dentex-sponsored medical plan. Residents of Puerto Rico are not eligible for Vida.

What kind of health coaching can I receive through Vida?

Vida handpicks the best coaches and health experts from across the country. Whether a member is just starting their health journey, training for their next marathon, or somewhere in between, Vida’s coaches can help members reach their personal goals.

Here are a few examples of things Rx Activate can help with:

• Nutrition, including support for specialized diets (gluten-free, paleo, vegan, keto, and more)
• Exercise and strength training, from getting started to prepping for competitions
• Coping with stress
• Improving sleep
• Managing diabetes, blood pressure, or cholesterol
• Tackling pre-diabetes or other risk factors, so they don’t lead to chronic disease
• Handling asthma or COPD

Can a member only participate if they have a chronic condition?

No. Whether a member is looking to get (or stay) fit, lose weight, handle stress, prevent disease, manage a chronic condition, or meet another health goal, Vida has expert coaches available to help.

Can a member choose their coach?  

Absolutely. After a member downloads the Vida Health app, they will be prompted to create an account and choose their preferred program (nutrition, weight loss, whole health, stress, exercise, etc.) based on which program offering that has been elected by the respective Capital Rx client. Vida  asks the member a few questions, including what kind of coaching style they’d like — for example a cheerleader type, drill sergeant, listener, or something else.

Vida will recommend some coaches that could be a good fit based on the answers to the member’s survey.  Members then can choose their preferred coach.

Can I change coaches if it doesn’t work out with my first coach?

Absolutely. To request a change, go to the Home screen in your Vida app, tap the gear icon in the upper right, then tap Request New Coach. You’ll complete a brief survey so we can match you with a new coach that’s the best fit for your style and goals.

If I get a new medicine prescribed by Vida, how do I send my prescription to my pharmacy? 

Prescriptions will be submitted electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. It can be a local pharmacy or a mail-order pharmacy. The Vida medical provider will ask you which pharmacy you prefer.

How often will I meet with my prescriber?

You’ll have an initial consultation with your prescriber to assess your medication needs and a follow-up visit to review progress. Additional visits beyond these two depend on your situation and can be scheduled as needed. You also have the option to message your prescriber on an unlimited basis.

Can I communicate with my prescriber outside of a scheduled appointment?

Yes! You’ll be able to send messages to your prescriber at any time. Response times from providers are usually within 1-2 days, but often the same day.

How do I schedule appointments?

You can schedule an appointment directly through the app from the Home screen.

Will insurance cover the cost of my prescription?

You’ll be able to provide your insurance information directly to your pharmacy. Coverage of costs will vary depending on policy information. If you have any questions about the cost, please contact your insurance company or pharmacy for specific details about your specific policy and the cost of the prescription.

How does a member sign up? 

1. Member downloads the Vida Health app to their phone and creates an account.
2. Member chooses National Dentex Corporation as the organization.
3. Vida assesses member eligibility.
4. Member chooses the health areas they want to focus on and then picks a coach that fits their schedule and personality.
5. Member schedules their first session and gets started.

Can I connect other health and fitness apps/devices to my Vida account?

You can! Connecting your fitness tracking apps and devices to Vida is a great way to stay on track with your health goals. We support integrations with 100+ apps and devices, including:

• Fitbit
• Garmin
• iHealth
• Jawbone
• Runkeeper
• Strava
• Withings/Nokia Health
• Apple Health (e.g. Loseit, MyFitnessPal) (iOS only)

How does a member connect another device or app to their Vida account?

When a member logs into Vida for the first time, they will see a task on the Home screen that says Connect Devices & Apps. Tapping this will guide the member through the device setup process. If a member decides to add or change a connected device/app at a later time, they may follow these steps:

1. Make sure the device/app they’d like to connect is set up and that data tracking is working properly.
2. Member to log into the Vida app.
3. Go to the Home screen, tap the gear icon in the upper right, then tap Connect Devices & Apps.
4. Select the device/app that member would like to connect and follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Repeat these steps if member needs to connect more devices or apps.

Why isn’t my device or app syncing to Vida?

First, please make sure the device is properly connected (see previous FAQ: “How does a member connect another device or app to their Vida account?”). If you checked this and is still having problems, please email Vida at support@vida.com or call 833-732-2242.

Can I order a device through Vida?

Yes. Devices such as a digital scale, blood glucose meter (as well as testing supplies), and/or blood pressure monitor may be available to members after they complete their first coach session and if they meet Vida clinical criteria for a device. The order form for devices will be found in the Vida app for those who are eligible.

When Vida provisions an over-the-counter device (weight scale, blood pressure monitor, blood glucose meter, and strip/lancet refills), it is not processed as part of Rx claims. We provision one select brand/model of each device type.

I have my own glucometer. Do I need to request a new one from Vida?

If a member has their own glucometer, they can likely sync it with the Vida app if it has Bluetooth connectivity.  If a member is not able to sync their device, they can also manually enter their data into the Vida app if they prefer to continue using that device.  If a member was previously a part of the Livongo program and needs a new glucometer, they may talk to their Vida coach to see if they are eligible to receive a new meter, strips, and lancets (and supply refills based on use) prescribed by Vida in alignment with the member’s benefits/formulary.

I have a CGM (continuous glucose monitor).  Can I sync data from my CGM to the Vida app?

Yes, you can! Check with your coach to learn how to set up the CGM connection as it varies based on device.

I forgot my password. Can you help?

Sure thing. Simply open the Vida app and tap Login. On the login screen, tap Forgot your password? and enter the email address associated with your account. We will send you an email with instructions on how to change your password.

How do I change my password?

I was asked for a credit card when signing up. Isn’t Vida provided to eligible National Dentex Corporation employees at no charge?

Vida is indeed available at no charge to eligible National Dentex Corporation employees. If you see a credit card request in error, email us at support@vida.com, and we can help you set it up.
