Mindful Breathing in Everyday Life


Try this exercise for 10-30 seconds your first time. Then, once you no longer have to read the instructions, try to incorporate this for minutes at a time throughout your day. Mindful breathing can be practiced during almost any other activity so do not be concerned about slowing your schedule while you slow your mind!

Take a controlled, but not intense, even inhale for about 4 seconds. ONE….TWO…..THREE….FOUR
Control your exhale, so you evenly release air for 4-6 seconds.
ONE….TWO…..THREE….FOUR….FIVE…..SIX
Take a controlled, but not intense, even inhale for about 4 seconds. ONE….TWO…..THREE….FOUR
Control your exhale, so you evenly release air for 6-8 seconds.
ONE….TWO…..THREE….FOUR….FIVE…..SIX….SEVEN….EIGHT
Continue the controlled inhale for 4, controlled exhale for 8 for as long as desired.
