Frequently asked questions
Do I have to participate in Vida to keep my weight loss medicine covered?
Yes. If your employer or health plan has coverage requirements for certain weight loss medicines (like GLP-1s), you must enroll in a Vida program and complete the required activities to remain eligible for coverage under your pharmacy benefit.
What are the requirements?
To ensure your medicine stays covered, you must complete the following activities within every 4-week cycle:
- Sessions: Attend a session with a Vida provider at least once every four weeks.
- Logging: Log health data (like your weight or blood pressure) once a week for at least 3 out of every 4 weeks. You can enter this manually or connect a device to make it easier.
- Lessons: Complete educational content and guided videos in the Explore tab, once a week for at least 2 of every 4 weeks.
Complete each activity by Sunday each week. Weeks run Monday through Sunday, and the current week counts.
How long does it take to become eligible if I’m starting from zero?
If you are starting with no recent activity, it will take at least 3 weeks to meet the weekly requirements.
We recommend enrolling and starting as early as possible to avoid a lapse in coverage.
What happens if I miss a week?
Missing one week does not automatically make you ineligible. However, you must meet the required activity totals within the rolling 4-week period to remain eligible.
You can check your progress at any time in the Vida app. We recommend engaging each week consistently to avoid a lapse in coverage.
Can I log past activity?
Yes. You may log past metrics within allowed limits. Status updates once every 24 hours.
Is there a grace period?
Depending on your sponsoring organization, you may have a grace period after the launch date. During this time, your medicine remains covered while you complete the required activities.
Once the grace period ends, you must meet the activity requirements to maintain eligibility for coverage.
How do I check my status?
Open the Vida app and view your tracker. It shows:
- Your status for receiving medicine coverage
- Which requirements you’ve completed
- What you need to do next
How do I know which weight loss medicines can be covered?
Check your coverage: Medicine coverage can vary by plan. Certain medicines may be subject to your pharmacy benefit’s formulary, prior authorization, or other requirements. To avoid unexpected costs, review your specific pharmacy benefits or contact your health plan directly. This contact information is often on the back of your health insurance or pharmacy benefits card.
