What is Vida Health?

Vida Health is a mental health platform that allows you to connect with a therapist 24/7 through phone, text or video from the comfort of your home.

With Vida, you get a program tailored to you and your emotional health journey. When you sign up, you have the chance to share your goals and preferences. Vida uses that information to build a program and experience from the ground up, just for you. The program includes an expert therapist, easy mood-tracking and helpful resources like videos, lessons, practices and more — all aimed at helping you achieve better emotional health, in a way that works for you.

Who is Vida for?

Vida is available to people 18 and older. The platform is available at reduced price to members of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois PPO plans.

How much does Vida cost?

Vida has a subscription cost of $159 per month for Therapy or Mental Health Coaching. For the Therapy program an additional out of pocket costs may apply for each session, dependent on your Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO benefit plan.

Can I select a preferred therapy or coach style?

Absolutely. After you download the Vida Health app, you’ll be prompted to create an account and select your preferred program either Therapy or Mental Health Coaching. Then, we’ll get you matched to a therapist or a coach by collecting some inputs from you, including the style you’d like, whether a cheerleader, drill sergeant, listener, or something else.

Can I change therapists or coaches if for some reason it doesn't work out with my first therapist or coach?

Absolutely. To request a therapist change, email support@vida.com or ask your therapist directly. 

To request a coach change, go to the Now tab in your Vida app, tap Settings in the upper right, then tap Request New Coach. You’ll walk through a brief survey to make sure we match you with a new coach that’s the best fit for you and your goals.

Where do I go to download the Vida app and create my account?

Go directly to your phone’s app store and search for “Vida Health” to download and create your account. 

What organization should I choose from the Vida Health app downloaded onto my phone?

After you complete your health information, you’ll be prompted to choose whether you are joining Vida through an organization or on your own. Click “through an organization” and then choose “Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois” from the drop-down list. If you are unable to find this organization, please contact Vida support at support@vida.com

What's the difference between Therapy and Mental Health Coaching?

Both therapy and coaching sessions happen via live video chats and give you 24/7 support from your dedicated therapist or coach. 

Therapy consists of sessions with a licensed clinician to help you address emotional difficulties and issues to change problematic behaviors, repair and improve relationships and work through painful feelings.  Therapy helps you dive deeper into the past or present issues to change your thoughts and behaviors to feel better or cope with emotional stress in a healthier way.

Mental Health Coaching focuses on your current behaviors and your goals for the future. Your health coach will personalize a plan for you based on your health goals and preferences—then guide you every step of the way. You and your coach will work together to develop specific skills and tools to help you deal with everyday challenges such as stress so you can achieve your potential.

Is Vida covered by insurance?

Vida accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois PPO plans as a participating network provider.

How do I pay my patient balance?

You can always view and pay open balances on your patient portal. For any payment related questions, please contact Vida support at support@vida.com or call (855) 550-1288.

I thought my insurance would pay for all of my bill for therapy consults?

Your insurance did process your bill and paid a portion of it. The remaining is the patient’s responsibility based on the insurance plan that you have elected. Contact BCBSIL for more information.

What is a co-pay (copayment)?

A co-pay is the standard payment amount you owe each time you visit a doctor or therapist. You will need to pay this amount each time you have a consultation with your therapist. The rate is usually listed on the front of your insurance card next to Office Visit or Specialist.

What is a co-insurance?

A co-insurance is a standard percentage of the overall bill that a member / patient owes. This is written out in your insurance plan details and is usually a standard percentage such as 10%/20%/30%.

What is patient liability / patient responsibility?

This is the total amount of the bill you owe.

What is a deductible?

The amount you pay for covered health care services before your insurance plan starts to pay. After you pay your deductible for the year you will only need to pay a copay or coinsurance percentage for each visit after this.

Do I need to pay for each visit?

Yes, you will have to pay for each visit, but to make it easier, you can put a credit card on file in the Patient Portal and we will charge it automatically each time. You will get an email for each charge.

What is an EOB?

An Explanation of Benefits; this details out how much your insurance was billed, how much they paid, and how much you owe.

My other insurance usually pays my patient responsibility.

Do you have secondary insurance? If so, please call 855-550-1288 so we can determine if this changes the amount you owe.

Why did my claim get denied?

Did your insurance change? If so, you may no longer be eligible for Vida’s therapy services through BCBSIL.  If you believe this to be a mistake, please call 855-550-1288.

Privacy

What happens to the information I provide to Vida?

All personal information you share through Vida’s HIPAA-compliant app is confidential and is securely stored on encrypted databases.

What type of information will BCBS Illinois receive?

Vida and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois take your personal health information very seriously. Your individual data will only be accessible to your Vida team, and select health apps you connect to Vida. Vida will not share your individual participation, results, or any personally identifiable health information with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois.

Technical Issues

I forgot my password. Can you help?

Sure thing. Simply open the Vida app and tap Login. Once at the login screen, tap the Forgot your password? link and enter your email address for your account. We will send you an email with instructions on how to change your password.

How do I change my password?

To change your password, simply go to the Now tab in your Vida app, tap Settings in the upper right, then tap Change Password. From there, follow the on-screen instructions to change your password.

How do I change the email address associated with my Vida account?
